The
European Agency for Safety and Health at Work with
the headquarters in Bilbao, Spain is an European Union’s
organization set up on the basis of the European Council’s
Decision. The aim of this body consists of collecting,
disseminating and facilitating the economic, technical
and scientific information exchange to improve the working
conditions and to promote the best practices for work
accidents and occupational disease prevention.
The Agency welcomes Jukka Takala as the new director
Jukka Takala joins the Agency from the International Labour Organization where he was director of the International Programme on Safety and Health at Work and the Environment (SafeWork). Promoting higher levels of workplace safety and health across the European Union and encouraging managers and employees to work together to make workplaces safer, healthier and more productive, are among the key objectives when Dr Takala starts work in the Agency and he is looking forward to working with Agency staff and indeed the Occupational safety and health network.

Work 2005
This conference concludes the 2005 "Stop that Noise!" campaign aimed to reduce the risks of occupational noise. The main purpose of this conference is to promote and disseminate good practice solutions and models for the prevention of risks associated with the occupational exposure to noise. The conference offers the opportunity of debating actual problems related to the presence of noise at workplace and ways to reduce occupational risks.
